Thorncliffe is a community in the North West quadrant of the city of Calgary.

The neighbourhood is one of a handful of communities that actually is in the North West quadrant as well as the North East quadrant. The bulk of the community is in the North West with a smaller portion being on the east side of Centre Street North. In the North quadrant, Centre Street is the dividing line between north east and north west.


Development of the community started in the mid 1950's and consists mainly of single family homes, with some duplexes.

The neighbourhood is just slightly east of Nose Hill Park, the largest off leash park in the city of Calgary. It covers an area of 1,129 hectares and borders 12 communities in the North West.

Nose Hill Park is definitely an experience of the prairie nature without leaving the city.

Many people enjoy the hiking trails and many more bring their beloved furry friend with them as they stroll through the park. Views of downtown, Canada Olympic Park and the mountains from different areas inside the park.

Other than having Nose Hill Park as a neighbour to the west, the community's neighbours to the north is Huntington Hills and to the south west isNorth Haven. Greenview is to the east and south of the community. While Highland Park is directly south of the community divided by McKnight Blvd.

Shopping can be found along 4th Street NW in the community, however Deerfoot Mall is a short distance east of Huntington Hills on 64th Avenue NE.

Bus service to downtown is excellent, or a drive down Centre Street will bring you to the core in short time.

Schools can be found in the community as well as in neighbouring communities.
