Sunalta is a community in the South West section of the city of Calgary.
Development of the community started in the early 1910's and consists of single family homes as well as multi-family units.
Rumor has it that the meaning of the name of the neighbourhood was chosen, as Alta, from the previous abbreviation for Alberta and the word sun. Implying that is was Sunny Alberta.
Considered an inner-city neighbourhood, with access to downtown via 17th Avenue SW. Bordering Crowchild Trail provides good access to many areas in the city.
Many green spaces including parks and playgrounds.
Excellent bus service to the down town core.
Shopping along 17th Avenue SW, is well known. There are also so many restaurants, coffee houses and more to enjoy along this trendy stretch of this popular avenue. As well, both Signal Hill and West Hill shopping centers are within a short drive of the community.
