South Calgary is a community in the South West section of the city of Calgary.
Development of the community started in the mid 1910's and consists of single family homes as well as condos. Green spaces abound with many parks and playgrounds to be enjoyed.
Marda Loop is also part of the community. Marda Loop is a popular area with many unique shops, restaurants and coffee houses. Many Calgarians enjoy strolling on 33rd Avenue, the heart of Marda Loop, bordered by Altadore, Garrison Woods and South Calgary.
Considered an inner-city neighbourhood, with access to downtown via 14th Street SW that the community borders. However, Crowchild Trail is close by and provides good access to the core as well as to many areas in the city. Excellent bus service to the down town core.
Shopping can be found in the neighbouring community of Garrison Green,
as well as the stretch known as Marda Loop. Both Signal Hill and West Hill shopping centers are within a short drive of the community.
Schools can be found in the neighbouring communities.
