Shawnessy is a community in the South West quadrant in the city of Calgary.
Development began in the early 1980's and consists mainly of single family homes but has town homes and multi-family homes as well.

A landmark in the community is "The Barn", it serves as the community center and so much more.
Close proximity to Spruce Meadows, however the neighbour to the south is Somerset, to the north is Millrise to the west is Evergreen while the community of Midnapore is directly to the east of the neighbourhood, divided by MacLeod Trail.
Spruce Meadows is recognized around the world as a leading equestrian facility. However, it is much more than an equestrian centre and enjoyed by all who go there.
LRT (Light Rail Transit) station can be found in the community, close to McLeod Trail.
With McLeod Trail being just east of the community this provides a quick route to the downtown core.
Shopping is located along McLeod Trail in the community and neighbouring community of Somerset, such as the Shoppes, Centre and Village.
Schools are conveniently located in the neighbourhood and surrounding communities.
