Parkland is a community in the South East quadrant of the city of Calgary.
Development of the community started in the mid 1970's.
The name was chosen because the community borders Fish Creek Park to the south and west. This provides the community with scenic views of the park and river.
Th neighbourhood consists of single family homes on beautifully tree lined streets. Other than bordering onto Fish Creek Park, the commit has lots of green spaces, parks and playgrounds.
Fish Creek Park is one of Canada's largest urban parks. Boundaries to the west is the T'suu Tina Nation Land and to the east is the Bow River.
So many things to enjoy at Fish Creek Park. There is simply so much beauty and tranquility and all so close to and/or connected to so many communities.
There is the Sikome Aquatic Facility, which is a man made lake opened from June to September of each year.
There are picnic sites and lots of pathways and trails to enjoy.
As well, you can find the Bow Valley Ranch Visitors Centre and the Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre.
There is shopping nearby in the community of Deer Ridge at the Deer Valley Shopping Centre, but both South Centre Mall and Chinook Mall are in close proximity as well.
